Mehdi Dazi

Mehdi Dazi is a Managing Director of ECP and serves as the Co-Chief Executive Officer of the ECP MENA Fund. With six funds and over $1.6 billion under management, ECP is a leading private equity manager focused exclusively on Africa. Headquartered in Washington DC, ECP has six offices across Africa and a ten-year track record of successful investment in companies operating in over 40 countries on the continent. As a Managing Director, Mr. Dazi is responsible for identifying, analyzing and recommending investments, performing due diligence and leading transaction teams. He is also member of the investment committee for the ECP MENA Fund.

Prior to joining ECP, Mr. Dazi served as Chief Executive Officer of Emirates International Investment Company (EIIC) beginning in 2005. Mr. Dazi began his career in 1992 with the United Nations Development Program in New York, where he served as a consultant. The same year he joined Deutsche Morgan Grenfell where he served successively as a Research Analyst and a Portfolio Manager. In 1995, he held the position of Senior Manager at Scudder Kemper Investments. In 2001, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Founoon Holdings, a media company in Egypt, and in 2002 he was appointed Director of Estithmaar Ventures. 

Mr. Dazi graduated from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris and Columbia University in New York. In recent years he has served on the board of Orascom Telecom Algeria and Global Alumina (Canada). He currently serves on the boards of Vivendi, Qatar National Bank International Hldg., Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, India Gateway Holdings (London). He is an Algerian and a French citizen.
