February 23, 2017: Pan-African private equity firm Emerging Capital Partners (ECP) is delighted to announce its partnership with the My African Startup 100 initiative following the official announcement of its startup 100 shortlist on Wednesday.
Founded in 2014, My African Startup 100 has been supporting entrepreneurs by connecting them with organizations to help unlock the potential of startups on the continent and help them obtain the visibility and networks to achieve growth.
The selected startups hail from 22 African countries, including two Portuguese-speaking countries, five French-speaking countries, nine English-speaking countries, and four Arabic-speaking countries. They cover a wide range of sectors such as financial services, telecom and technology, biotech and health, educational-focused information technology, tourism and transportation, and agribusiness. While participating companies are at different stages in their growth cycle, they all share a maximum turnover requirement of €1million each.
As part of the initiative, ECP along with other prominent financial, legal, and commercial firms, will share their networks and experience as well as volunteering time to provide strategic advice to the start-ups to help accelerate their development.
ECP’s Co-CEO and Founding Partner, Vincent Le Guennou, commented: “As ECP is passionate about helping African businesses scale quickly and sustainably, we are proud to be able to support such a worthwhile initiative. Our work shows us every day that Africa is enriched with entrepreneurs that have new, innovative products and service offerings. This is an opportunity for us to help them get off the ground and scale in a way that creates growth and attracts future investment.”
ECP joins this initiative alongside well-known names such as the African Development Bank (AfDB), HEC Paris, Orrick, Air France, Compagnie Française de l’Afrique Occidentale (CFOA), Lelapa Fund, and 35°Nord.
