Emerging Capital Partners (ECP) has been named the Private Equity Investor of the Year at the Africa CEO Forum Awards 2016. This is the second time that the firm has won the prestigious accolade, having previously won in 2014. The award was presented at a gala dinner after the Africa CEO Forum in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on March 21, 2016. The awards and the forum were sponsored by GE Africa.
The Private Equity Investor of the Year award is given to the private equity firm that has carried out the most significant operations in Africa over the past two years. The awards grand jury took into account the volume of financing in African companies in the past year, the number of African companies financed and their results, and Africa’s share in the company’s total activity. There were eight other international and regional private equity firms shortlisted for the award.
The grand jury comprised 23 business leaders from local and international corporations, financial institutions, development institutions, consulting firms, and the media. The Africa CEO Forum is one of the most important events in the African business calendar, bringing together leaders in global finance and the CEOs of the continent’s biggest companies.
Commenting on the award win, Vincent Le Guennou, Co-CEO and Founding Partner of ECP said, “The last few years have been incredibly productive for ECP. We are working closely with our investee companies to help them build their businesses, while also ensuring that we realize some of our more mature investments. Receiving this award, judged by a panel of our peers, is a strong validation of our partnership approach to investing in the region. We are extremely honored to receive it.”
