23 October 2014: Emerging Capital Partners (ECP) is proud to announce that it has been shortlisted in two categories for the prestigious Africa Investor Awards (Ai).
ECP was shortlisted for ‘Best African Fund Manager’ in the Ai Index Series Awards. ECP’s latest fund, Africa Fund III, performed well in 2013 making over $55.9m of new investments during the year and increasing the value of its portfolio by over $90m during the same period.
ECP was further shortlisted in the ‘Private Equity Deal of the Year’ category for the Ai Investment and Business Leader Awards for the firm’s investment into Atlas Bottling Corporation (ABC). A great example of proprietary deal flow, ECP acquired a 33% stake, as part of an $80m investment plan, and supports the company to deliver on its ambitious development plans.
The Ai Awards are unique pan-African business and capital market investment awards that recognize and reward the achievements of the private sector across wide-ranging disciplines. These awards attract market leaders from across the continent and salute the achievements of Africa’s best performing stock exchanges, listed companies, investment banks, research teams, regulators, socially responsible companies and fund managers.
Commenting on ECP’s inclusion, Hurley Doddy, co-CEO of ECP said, “We are thrilled to have been included in these shortlists. As one of the very first entrants to the African private equity market, 15 years ago, we are long-term believers in the tremendous potential of Africa’s investment landscape, and our inclusion in these prestigious awards highlights our commitment to the continent.”
